Located in Wake County. Cary is located near the center of North Carolina. The closest surrounding cities are Raleigh and Apex, however Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Fuquay Varina, Morrisville, Sanford, Wake Forest, and Pittsboro are all within a 40-minute drive. The closest airport is Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) which is about 15 minutes away by interstate. The most well-known work center near Cary is Research Triangle Park (RTP) which is about 30 minutes by car. Nearly all of the above-mentioned cities have their own commercial centers as well. Cary hosts Regency Park, Weston Park, and MacGregor Park. Colleges and universities within easy commute from Cary include North Carolina State University (in Raleigh), Duke University (in Durham), and University of North Carolina (in Chapel Hill). Some of the smaller colleges are Meredith College, Peace College, and Wake Technical College. Cary is two-and-a-half hours to the ocean and three house to the mountains.
